DC Studios casts David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in SUPERMAN: LEGACY

DC Studios has discovered its Clark Kent and Lois Lane with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, per Deadline. The 2 raven-haired actors will play the coveted roles within the inaugural film, Superman: Legacy, from the brand new DC Studios’ heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The newest on-screen iteration of the long-lasting story of Clark Kent and Lois Lane might be penned and directed by Gunn himself (excellent news, everyone!). As reported by Collider, Safran stated in January that Superman: Legacy will largely deal with “Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage together with his human upbringing.”

In accordance with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn held screentests with a number of hopeful actors over the weekend of June 17:

Gunn, based on sources, assembled three actors and three actresses for Superman and Lane, respectively, and on Saturday, the primary day of the testing, the actors have been seen in predetermined pairs: Nicholas Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan; Tom Brittney and Phoebe Dynevor; and David Corenswet and Emma Mackey. They got a number of scenes to movie, through which the males have been in make-up and wardrobe as Each day Planet reporter Kent whereas the females have been plucky journalist Lane.

Finally, successful the superhero fame lottery was Corenswet, who’s a Julliard Faculty alum and rose to fame in Ryan Murphy‘s Hollywood. He will be a part of an inventory of some nice actors who’ve performed Superman over time, corresponding to Tom Welling, Bud Collyer, and Christopher Reeve. The character has additionally been performed by actors corresponding to Dean Cain, who can’t stand woke Captain America, and Henry Cavill, whose behavior toward women is questionable.

Corenswet can be Jewish. Though I have no idea if that factored into the casting determination, it’s a pleasant nod to author Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, who created Superman in 1933 and have been the sons of Jews who escaped to America to keep away from the pogroms. In Jewish circles, Superman is usually known as the American Golem or Supergölem.

Brosnahan is understood for enjoying Mrs. Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award for Excellent Lead Actress in a Comedy Collection, two Golden Globes, and lots of extra awards. She can be the niece of the late clothier Kate Spade (not related to her appearing capability however a nifty truth if you wish to showcase your nerd abilities). Not too long ago, she appeared in Lorraine Hansberry‘s The Register Sidney Brustein’s Window reverse Oscar Isaac on Broadway.

Each Brosnahan and Corenswet are Home of Playing cards alums. They are going to be reuniting for Superman: Legacy.

Superman: Legacy arrives in theaters on July 11, 2025.
